The story
Mikumi became a national park in 1964 and is one of the easiest southern parks to reach by road. The open Mkata floodplain gives it a classic safari feel without long travel time.
Mikumi's role has always been practical and important: it opens southern Tanzania safari to travelers who have only a few days but still want real wildlife.
